A pan-industry group, which includes INTERTANKO, has helped the Philippines to develop an anti-piracy course for its seafarers.

Effective 1st February 2010, all manning agencies in the Philippines should provide, at no cost to their seafarers, an anti-piracy awareness training seminar for those signing on.

INTERTANKO has followed this process closely and has been instrumental in assisting the regulator -Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) - in its development, the association claimed.
